Banktivity 5 (formerly iBank 5) App Reviews

iBank runs very solidly on my iMac for the most part, but syncing with iCloud does not seem to work correctly. In particular, the balances that show up on my iPhone and iPad are very different from that on the iMac, which does show the right balances. Also, recently, the document on my iMac got corrupted (no idea why), but the fix was less than perfect. On the one hand, the support folks were absolutely top notch as far as getting the doc restored from iCloud. The downside to the fix, though, was that I had to go back months on all accounts, deleting reconciliations and re-reconciling to get everythings back in order. How is it that the backup on iCloud, which I do VERY faithfully, was so out of whack?

I agree with most of the reviews at the Apple store. The software is intuitive and robust, especially since the introduction of automatic transaction downloads from all banking and credit card accounts. What I find extremely annoying is the weakling browser which refuses to open any secondary windows which would allow printing and/or bank statement review from within the application.

I have been using Quickbooks for my small business and personal finances for a few years now and I have been looking for a more user friendly and affordable alternative. Banktivity is my new home. It is easy to add/update information, reports are very understandable and it doesn’t take a degree in accounting to do simple tasks. Banktivity supports investment accounts like no other finance application I have tried. Once linked or imported, your finance and investment data syncs to your iPhone/iPad for viewing and editing. Not only that but on opening Banktivity all investment values are updated to current so you always know exactly where your investments stand minute to minute. They also have video tutorials and online chat when you have questions. Thank you IGG for understanding the needs of small business and personal investments, you have earned a loyal customer in me.

Definitely worth my investment, I switched after a lot of grief and frustrations from Quicken, this product is evidently made for OS, and although it takes some getting used to, once you get the hang of things, it is pretty awesome, specially the fact that it reflects the transactions from my bank as they are presented to it, even before they are cleared by the bank, so to me that is a good feature, a real time status of what is being presented to my bank!!! I am sure that as the product matures, more and more little details will be cleansed!! And loved the sync feature with my mobile! If you are looking for a TRUE-OS-APP not a “Windos-Patched-to-OS” for your finances, this is your option!

Income tax was a breeze. Itemizing for both of us took less time than doing the mileage for either of us. I did a report on previous year. The application separated everything by the categories we had entered during the year. I had entered two transactions incorrectly. Double clicking located where it was in which account, so correcting was easy. I do not store my financial account passwords (other than Touch ID) on any device, so have not tried any of the paid services.
